In a tragic turn of events, a fifty-year-old man from Chinhoyi, Bwanali Bwanando, has been apprehended by the police after allegedly killing his wife on November 7.
Bwanando had been evading authorities since the incident, but diligent work by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led to his arrest at Musengi Farm on Tuesday.
The chilling crime is believed to have been sparked by Bwanando catching his wife, Chioneso Ephraim (41), red-handed with her boyfriend in their marital bed. Fleeing the scene, Bwanando reportedly contacted relatives of the deceased, hinting that he was en route to Zambia. During his time on the run, he sought refuge in his farm house during the night and concealed himself in the nearby bush during the day.
Yesterday, accompanied by detectives, Bwanando was taken to the crime scene to reenact and demonstrate how the murder unfolded. Shockingly, the fatal act was committed in the presence of the couple’s maid, who bore witness to the horrifying event. Bwanando allowed the alleged boyfriend to depart unharmed.
Married for nearly fifteen years and blessed with two children, Bwanando and Ephraim had encountered ongoing marital issues, with allegations of infidelity levied against her. Tragically, these tensions culminated in a violent confrontation that ended Ephraim’s life.
