In a recent court case in Bulawayo, a 37-year-old man named Clive Mandipe has been sentenced to nine months in jail by magistrate Themba Chimiso.
Mandipe was found guilty of assaulting his tenant, Dominic Dube, following a dispute over a rental increase.
Although Mandipe pleaded not guilty to the charge, the overwhelming evidence presented by the tenant led to his conviction. Dube suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on July 4 around 6pm at their residence in Bellevue, where Mandipe informed Dube about the rent hike. This news did not sit well with Dube, leading to a heated argument between the two.
During the altercation, Mandipe resorted to physical violence and attacked Dube’s head with a knuckle duster. The severity of the assault required Dube to seek medical treatment at a hospital. Subsequently, he reported the incident to the police, leading to Mandipe’s arrest.
The court was made aware of the extent of the injuries suffered by Dube as a direct result of the attack.
In light of these circumstances, magistrate Themba Chimiso handed down a nine-month jail sentence to Clive Mandipe for his assault on Dominic Dube.
