Tragedy struck along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road as an InterAfrica bus experienced a tyre burst, causing it to overturn.
In the devastating accident, two individuals lost their lives instantly, while several others sustained injuries. The incident was confirmed by Lynos Phiri, the acting fire brigade officer in Bulawayo. According to Phiri, the bus, carrying approximately 60 passengers, had both rear tyres burst before the unfortunate accident occurred.
“(An) InterAfrica bus with about 60 people on board burst two rear tyres and overturned. Two Brigade ambulances ferried nine patients,” said Phiri.
Other injured passengers were ferried by private ambulances.
