In a deeply distressing event, a member of the Johane Marange apostolic sect in Guruve fatally assaulted his wife after she refused to comply with a church doctrine requiring women to keep their heads bald. The incident took place on October 28, 2023, at approximately 9 am.
The assailant, identified as Daniel Mufambi, aged 35, confronted his 22-year-old wife, Benedict Mutero, accusing her of disregarding the prescribed practice of shaving her head. Amidst a heated argument, Mufambi demanded that Mutero accompany him to a church service, but she adamantly refused.
The situation quickly escalated as Mufambi resorted to physical violence. He began to flog, slap, and punch his wife repeatedly all over her body. Tragically, the assault proved fatal, and Mutero succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at Guruve hospital.
