Zimbabwean singer Kudzai Andrew Ngwenya and his ex-wife Chido Manyange appeared in court yesterday regarding custody of their two children.
Ngwenya, who goes by the stage name Andy Muridzo, filed a request seeking custody of both kids. However, his lawyer proposed allowing Manyange, also known as Mai Keketso, to retain custody of the younger child who is only four years old while Muridzo would care for the older one.
The magistrate listened to both sides but advised it was in the children’s best interest not to separate them from their mother. She instructed Muridzo and Manyange’s lawyers to draft an agreement ensuring the minors stay together.
This isn’t the first legal matter between Muridzo and his former partner. In the past, Mai Keketso took him to court demanding US$1,800 in monthly child support. She said this level of financial assistance was needed to properly care for their family.
Additionally, in 2018 Manyange was arrested for allegedly bashing Muridzo during a confrontation that occurred when she unexpectedly met up with him while chilling out with his friends.
