A Bulawayo man was apprehended by police for assaulting his wife with a cellphone, driven by suspicions of infidelity.
Kaurane Nkomo, aged 44, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa, facing charges of assault. Accepting his guilt, Nkomo expressed remorse and apologized to the magistrate, revealing that he had already spoken to his wife about the matter.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on October 25 around 7 pm. Sihle Sibanda, Nkomo’s wife, was using her cellphone when her husband returned home. In a fit of rage, Nkomo snatched Sibanda’s phone and attempted to call a specific number, only to receive no response. This infuriated him further, leading him to strike Sibanda’s left cheek with the cellphone, causing her to bleed.
Although Sibanda did not seek medical attention, she reported the incident to the police, resulting in Nkomo’s subsequent arrest. The case has been adjourned, and Nkomo awaits sentencing, which is scheduled for October 31 (today).
