In a heartbreaking discovery, the lifeless body of a baby girl was found inside a carrier bag, wrapped in a baby blanket near a cemetery.
The incident occurred at Shawasha grounds in Mbare, opposite Pioneer Cemetery, as confirmed by the police.
According to the police, the baby, estimated to be two months old, was discovered on Sunday. In response, the police issued a statement, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation of this tragic case.
The statement from the police in Harare reads, “Police in Harare are investigating a case of infanticide in which a baby girl (approximately 2 months) was found dead at Shawasha Grounds, opposite Pioneer Cemetery, Mbare on 29/10/23.”
“The body was found in a carrier bag and was wrapped with a baby blanket. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” reads the statement.
