In a surprising turn of events, thieves targeted Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison Camp, robbing a senior officer of US$2,500 in her own bedroom on Sunday.
Superintendent Gloria Tamanikwa, who holds the position of Officer-in-Charge at Chikurubi Female Prison, had the unfortunate experience of losing the money while she was engrossed in watching TV in her lounge.
The shocking discovery came when Superintendent Tamanikwa retired to her bedroom around midnight, only to find it in disarray. The thieves had ransacked the room and opened her suitcase, which contained the substantial sum of money. Police suspect that the culprits gained entry by exploiting one of the windows.
As of now, authorities are actively investigating the incident to apprehend the responsible individuals.
