A 32-YEAR-OLD man from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo is battling for life at a hospital, after surviving a savage attack in a suspected love triangle.
The man, who police did not name, was drinking alcohol at Cowdray park terminus on 22 October at around 3PM when the assailants pounced on him.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube in a statement said the man received a phone call from his girlfriend informing him that she would be visiting him.
“As he was waiting for his girlfriend he was approached by three unknown male adults. One of the accused persons claimed to be the husband to the girlfriend he was waiting for and accused him of dating his wife. They started assaulting him with open hands, bricks, and empty beer bottles all over the body,” said Insp Ncube.
He said the man was stabbed several times in the chest with a knife, before his attackers fled from the scene leaving him lying in a pool of blood.
“The complainant was referred to Mpilo (Central) Hospital for medical treatment and examination. His condition is serious. We urge members of the public to desist from violence and seek help from third parties in cases of differences. Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to report to any nearest police station,” said Insp Ncube said.
