Tragedy struck in Mount Darwin last week when a gold buyer, Luckmore Norest Kamema (33), took the life of his wife, Jane Gatsi, before turning the gun on himself.
The horrifying incident occurred during a heated argument between the couple and unfolded in the presence of their 12-year-old son.
According to Inspector Milton Mundembe, the police spokesperson for Mashonaland Central, the shooting occurred around 11 p.m. A tenant, Tawanda Kagodora (38), who resided in the same house, immediately alerted the authorities after hearing two gunshots.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the couple’s young son reportedly shared the harrowing details of the incident with Kagodora. The loss of life in such a violent manner has left the community in shock and mourning.
Inspector Milton Mundembe took the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of resolving disputes peacefully. He urged couples to refrain from violence and instead seek amicable solutions to their problems.
“We are warning couples to desist from violence instead they should solve their problems amicably if they have any differences,” Mundembe said.
