Church Leader Arrested for Attempting to Resurrect Dead Person in Mortuary

In a bizarre incident, Apostle Ruramai Nhapata, accompanied by Priest Nyamungara from Trinity International Fellowship Ministry, was apprehended after allegedly sneaking into a funeral parlour’s mortuary in an attempt to bring a deceased person back to life. The arrest took place amidst a confrontation with the police, during which the religious leaders threatened to undress in public as a form of protest.

Following their arrest, the duo was initially taken to Kuwadzana Police Station before being transported to Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour, the location where the incident occurred. Subsequently, they were transferred to Southerton Police Station, where they were detained.

Apostle Nhapata was charged with tampering with a dead body in a mortuary after she claimed to possess the power to resurrect the deceased individual, identified as Gift Takudzwa Shiriyapenga. Reportedly, she instructed a church member to place a cellphone on Shiriyapenga’s ear before undressing and massaging the body, loudly proclaiming that the deceased would be brought back to life.

In an interview with H-Metro, Apostle Nhapata expressed her readiness to face legal consequences, stating that she considered her actions to be an exercise of her faith. She even asserted that she had previously brought ten people back to life after they were pronounced dead.

“I am prepared not only to be arrested, but even to be imprisoned for doing God’s work,” said Apostle Nhapata.

The deceased was neither a relative of Apostle Nhapata nor a church member of her Trinity International Fellowship Ministry.

Apostle Nhapata is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
