A soccer match turned deadly in Harare over the weekend. 24-year-old Tadiwanashe Makumbe has found himself in legal trouble after an argument during a UEFA clash took a violent turn.
Makumbe was watching Paris Saint-German face off against Newcastle United along with his sister’s husband, Julius Nenzou. But as the game played out on Saturday night, tensions reportedly started to rise between the two men.
According to court documents, around 11:30pm an unspecified disagreement broke out. In a fit of rage, Makumbe allegedly began striking Nenzou repeatedly on the head with some kind of object.
Hearing the commotion from another room, Makumbe’s sister rushed in to intervene. But upon seeing her try to rescue her husband, he even turned on her as well, documents state.
Sadly, Nenzou had already fallen unconscious from the blows. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
