Three men have been sentenced to significant prison terms for their involvement in a fabricated heist at a Zimbabwean bank in 2021.

Shadreck Njowa, who planned the scheme as the former internal security manager for cash-in-transit, was joined by accomplices Tendai Zuze and Neverson Mwamuka in perpetrating the fake robbery involving US$2,7 million from ZB Bank in Chinhoyi.

However, their ruse was uncovered during investigations. The men were convicted on robbery charges by Harare Regional Magistrate Clever Tsikwa in court today.

The judge handed down a 10 year sentence to each man, but suspended two years on condition of good behaviour. This leaves the three to serve the remainder of eight years incarcerated.
