In a distressing incident yesterday, a lecturer from the University of Zimbabwe fell victim to a robbery along Kirkman Road.
Scot Scot, a 35-year-old resident of Tynwald North, had boarded a grey Toyota Probox at the Engen Service Station in Belvedere. His intention was to travel to the Westgate shops.
Unbeknownst to Scot, there were two individuals already inside the vehicle posing as fellow passengers. Shortly after commencing the journey, one of the men suddenly grabbed Scot by the neck and demanded that he hand over all his valuable possessions.
In a harrowing turn of events, the robbers managed to snatch Scot’s Infinix cellphone, national ID card, driver’s license, and a sum of cash. Regrettably, the victim was unable to capture the registration number of the vehicle. Once the thieves had obtained their loot, they callously abandoned Scot and swiftly fled the scene.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the spokesperson for the Harare provincial police, confirmed the incident. He stated that the victim suffered a loss of US$150 in addition to the stolen items.
