WEIRD things never cease to happen!
A 51-year-old man from Gwabalanda suburb left a court in rumpus after he unashamedly admitted that he fondled his 77-year-old ailing mother’s breasts before he assaulted her.
Cleopas Gwarimbo pulled a shocker when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Sikhethile Moyo and pleaded guilty to indecent assault and physical abuse charges.
For his strange behaviour he laid the blame on booze when he said: “The problem starts when I get drunk and that’s when I start to trouble my mother.”
Gwarimbo issued a passionate apology to his mother.
“I’m really sorry to my mother for my wayward behaviour. May she kindly forgive me,” he begged.
His ailing mother who could not walk upright spoke sitting on the chair as she could hardly stand on her own.
“He is troubling me. Whenever he is drunk he hurls insults at me and at times he beats me up and accuses me of having allowed my grandchild whom we stay with to fall pregnant,” she said.
She added: “Last week he banged on my bedroom door when I opened the door he fondled my breasts. Now I’m afraid he will rape me.”
The granny also said his unruly son does not stop at her but at times he fondles his niece’s breasts and buttocks.
She told the court that he sold her household property and squandered the money on booze. “He steals my household property and sells it to buy beer. Now I don’t have property. I pray that this honourable court will hand him a jail sentence so that he will reform,” she said.
He was remanded out of custody to 4 October for sentencing.
