Marry Mubaiwa, the estranged wife of Zimbabwean Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, continues to express her anguish over being separated from their three children for over five years now.
In a recent social media post, Marry alluded to her situation without naming her remarried ex-husband. She described the pain of missing her children and feeling that her constitutional rights as a mother had been ignored due to an abuse of authority and political influence.
“l miss my children so much it hurts, abuse of authority took over the power of the legal constitution which was totally ignored by abuse of the office… no matter how much lies she tells, we will always be attached to the hip because of our children, l am their biological mom…,” Marry wrote emotionally
Marry and the Vice President share two sons and a daughter together. She also has two other children from previous relationships.
Their relationship issues made headlines in 2019 when Marry was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill Chiwenga while he was receiving medical treatment abroad. Additional charges of fraud were also brought against her. Chiwenga then sought custody of their three children, accusing Marry of drug abuse.
This is not the first time Marry has used social media as an outlet for her frustrations. In 2021, she branded Chiwenga a “beast” and said the judiciary had been “compromised” after nearly 17 months of being denied access to her children, which she described as a form of imprisonment imposed by her husband.
It’s clear from her ongoing public statements that the separation from her kids continues to take an immense emotional toll on Marry. Only time will tell if she’s able to regain contact and play a role in their lives once more.
