Gokwe Man Allegedly Commits Suicide Amid Police Search for Sodomy Charges
Tragic news unfolded in Gokwe as a man, identified as Temba Munyoro (42) from Venge Village under Chief Chireya, reportedly took his own life after learning that the police were actively searching for him on sodomy charges. Munyoro was found hanging from a tree after an intensified police hunt.
Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident, stating that Munyoro’s body was discovered on September 21, 2023, around 4 am, following his earlier disappearance.
According to the police, Munyoro had been consuming alcohol at Nyamhara Business Centre when he received news that the authorities were looking for him in relation to allegations of sodomy.
“He went home and retired to bed. Around 4AM, he woke up leaving his wife in bed. When his wife woke up, she could not locate him and she informed neighbours and they began searching for him,” shared Inspector Mahoko.
Tragically, Munyoro’s lifeless body was found hanging from a mango tree near an abandoned house in close proximity.
Inspector Mhoko took the opportunity to remind the public to seek assistance and support when faced with challenging situations, rather than resorting to drastic measures. He emphasized the importance of confiding in someone and seeking a second opinion to navigate through difficult circumstances.
