Womberaiishe Nhende, the Glen Norah councillor for the CCC (City of Harare) who claimed to have been abducted and tortured by suspected State agents, has traveled abroad to seek medical treatment. Nhende, along with Sonele Mukuhlani, was allegedly forcibly taken and injected with an unidentified substance. Their assailants later abandoned them, leaving them for dead on the Harare-Chinhoyi Highway, approximately 70 kilometers away from the capital.
Sources within the CCC, speaking anonymously to NewsDay, verified that Nhende had left the country to seek medical attention. They confirmed that his departure was due to the alleged abduction and subsequent health issues.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Nhende shared his ordeal, stating, “As if the abduction and poisoning was not enough, they destroyed my car.”
The incident involving Nhende and Mukuhlani has raised concerns about their safety and the alleged involvement of State agents. Nhende’s decision to seek medical treatment abroad indicates the severity of his condition and the need for specialized care.
