Church Urged to Take Proactive Role in Combating Rising Suicide Cases
On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, Jehovah’s Witnesses regional spokesperson, Mr. Mlaleli Nsikani, has called on the church to play a proactive role in addressing the alarming increase in suicide cases. Mr. Nsikani highlighted the disturbing global trend of individuals taking their own lives and stressed the need for the church to join forces with other stakeholders in combating this issue.
As part of their contribution, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be sharing valuable information and biblical verses aimed at assisting communities in the fight against suicidal tendencies. Recognizing the importance of practical support, Mr. Nsikani emphasized that their church has been annually sharing helpful tips to aid those struggling with suicidal thoughts.
In commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day, the focus is placed on prevention strategies and initiating conversations about suicide. While the church won’t be hosting an event this year, they have chosen to share insightful guidance on suicide with the communities. Their aim is to provide support to individuals dealing with suicidal thoughts and to those who have family or friends facing similar challenges.
World Suicide Prevention Day has been observed globally since 2003 on September 10th, aiming to foster worldwide commitment and action in preventing suicides. Various activities and initiatives are undertaken on this day to raise awareness and address this pressing issue.
The call for the church to actively engage in the fight against suicide underscores the significance of collective efforts in preventing tragic loss of life and promoting mental well-being.
