A MAN from Nkayi in Matabeleland North province’s decision not to leave the bottle store after it was closed came at a steep cost.
He nearly lost his life.
This was after he was brutally bashed by three security guards who also kicked and repeatedly twisted his tǝsticlǝs before he passed out and was rushed to hospital.
This came to light when Khulani Masotsha (32), Ndumiso Msimanga (42) and Fortunate Moyo (46) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga facing attempted murder charges.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charge and were remanded in custody to 15 September.
The court heard that after a bottle store situated at Zinyangeni Business Centre in Nkayi was closed for the day at about 845pm Nkanyiso Ndiweni (32) who was boozing at the bottle refused to leave.
The owners of the bottle store, the court heard, instructed the security guards to take him out of the bottle store.
They then dragged him and left him outside, the court heard.
It is said after he had staggered for about 50 metres from the bottle store heading to his home the trio followed him and caught up with him before they allegedly bashed him and kicked him causing him to fall to the ground.
While he was rolling and writhing in agony one of the alleged attackers grabbed Ndiweni’s tǝsticlǝs and repeatedly twisted them while reportedly saying they wanted to “fix” him for exhibiting wayward behaviour.
It is said while they were twisting his tǝsticlǝs Ndiweni passed out and that forced them to flee the scene.
A Good Samaritan later bumped into Ndiweni who was writhing in agony and rushed him to the hospital.
The incident was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the three accused.
