Vice President and Zanu-PF second secretary Constantino Chiwenga has congratulated President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his election victory and the ruling party’s success in last week’s polls.

In a statement, Chiwenga praised Mnangagwa’s leadership for driving Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda. He said the election results affirm the government’s growth trajectory under the President’s astute guidance.

The Vice President also commended the peacefulness of the pre- and post-election periods, noting citizens heeded Mnangagwa’s call for tolerance, unity and harmony. This displayed the hallmarks of a mature democracy, Chiwenga stated.

Referring to Mnangagwa as “Cde President,” Chiwenga expressed “great joy and fulfillment” at the ruling party’s affirmation of their liberation legacy through the parliamentary wins.

He heartily congratulated Mnangagwa on his “resounding victory,” saying a second term will continue advancing socioeconomic reforms to empower citizens by 2030.

Chiwenga appealed for opposition candidates to now focus their energy on national progress. He stressed Zimbabwe’s shared identity transcends political differences.

The Vice President also congratulated victorious parliamentary and local government candidates. He urged citizens to back Mnangagwa’s efforts to develop the economy post-election.

In firmly endorsing both Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF’s performance, Chiwenga’s statement projects a united front within the party leadership.

“It is with great joy and a huge sense of fulfilment that I note the affirmation of our liberation legacy through your re-election, Cde President, including our Members of Parliament and Councillors,” said VP Chiwenga.

“Your Excellency, may you accept my hearty congratulations on your resounding victory.

“The triumph secures a well deserved second term that guarantees the continuation of the economic development agenda that will improve the livelihood of our people and achieve our Vision of an empowered and prosperous middle income society by 2030.

“Your Excellency, Cde President, it is my hope that those that contested against you will now turn their energy towards the common national good. As you have always said, that what unites us as a people under one flag and one national anthem is far bigger than what sets us apart.”

“Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate all candidates that were victorious in parliamentary and council elections,” said VP Chiwenga.
