In a sh0cking incident that unfolded on Friday night, a manager of a popular Kambuzuma Roadside Bar fell victim to a brazen robbery after collecting the establishment’s daily earnings. The targeted individual, identified as Makomborero Bowa, a 33-year-old resident of Belvedere, was confronted by two armed assailants as he drove along Westwood Road.
According to reports, the criminals intercepted Bowa’s vehicle, forcing him to surrender not only the substantial sum of US$1,000 in cash but also his cellphone and valuable fuel coupons. The harrowing incident occurred at approximately 10 pm, leaving the victim shaken and the local community on edge.
Confirming the incident, Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza announced that law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the case. The sequence of events unfolded as Bowa departed Roadside Bar in Kambuzuma Section 2 after collecting the day’s earnings. While driving home, he noticed a suspicious Toyota IST tailing his vehicle.
Sensing danger, Bowa attempted to increase his speed and return to the safety of the bar. However, his escape plan was thwarted when a Toyota Alteza abruptly blocked his path. Without delay, two unidentified individuals brandishing objects exited the vehicle, confronting the manager and ordering him to remain still.
Displaying a brazen disregard for the law, the criminals demanded cash and all valuables in Bowa’s possession. Under duress, he reluctantly surrendered the US$1,000 in cash, his coveted iPhone 11 Pro cellphone, and 20 litres of Petrotrade coupons. With their loot secured, the perpetrators swiftly fled the scene in their respective vehicles, leaving Bowa in shock and disbelief.
