In a disturbing incident that took place in Nkayi, two men are accused of brutally bludgeoning a fellow villager, Innocent Sibanda, to death. The victim, who was suspected to be suffering from a mental illness, met a tragic end on August 8, 2023.
According to a police statement, Lungisani Ngwenya (36) and Bongisani Ngwenya (36) allegedly launched a vicious attack on Innocent Sibanda. Armed with a knobkerrie and a metal lid, they repeatedly struck him on the head.
Authorities swiftly responded and apprehended the suspects in connection with the murder. Bongisani Ngwenya (36) and Lungisani Ngwenya (36) now face charges related to this heinous crime.
The incident unfolded when the suspects discovered Innocent Sibanda sleeping in Bongisani Ngwenya’s bedroom. Without mercy, they took turns assaulting the victim, causing fatal injuries. Innocent Sibanda tragically lost his life on the spot.
