A teacher who is stationed at a primary school in Maphisa, Matabeleland South province was stabbed on the butt0cks and neck before she was allegedly ƨǝxuɑlly attacked and robbed of her cash and cellphone by a man who had befriended her and lied to her that he owns a commuter omnibus.
The incident happened this week on Monday at Centenary Park in Bulawayo.
A source close to the incident said the teacher whose name is being withheld met the man who only identified himself as Cliff in the city centre and befriended her before lying to her that he owns a kombi.
“He lied to her saying he owns a kombi and would offer her transport for free to her home in Nketa suburb.
“The woman fell for the trap and he told her that his kombi plies the eastern suburbs and they have to wait for it near Centenary Park,” said the source.
The source added: “At around 7pm they headed to the park, upon reaching there the man drew an Okapi knife from his pair of trousers while he grabbed her by her arm.
“She tried to fight him but he stabbed her twice on the butt0cks and threatened to kill her.
“He then ordered her to spread a sarong on the ground and ƨǝxuɑlly attacked her. After that he robbed her of her cellphone before he fled.”
The woman reported the incident to the police.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and advised community members not to befriend strangers.
“We would like to discourage community members from befriending strangers as that might expose them to criminals,” he said.
