A 25-YEAR-OLD self-proclaimed sangoma’s insatiable appetite for ƨǝx cost him his freedom when he was slapped with a 25-year jail stint for rɑping a 75-year-old granny at her home and claiming he was “madly” in l0ve with her.
Roy Ndlovu who is based in Mbembeswana area in Siganda, Matabeleland North province appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza facing a rɑpe charge.
He pleaded not guilty but was convicted after a full trial and slapped with a 25 year jail sentence.
Ndlovu will however, effectively serve 15 years in jail after the magistrate suspended five years on condition of good behaviour.
In coming up with the sentence the magistrate said rɑping a 75-year-old woman who is weak and defenceless was heartless.
The magistrate noted that Ndlovu was the neighbour to the old woman and when he knocked on her door he lied that her daughter had been robbed and she believed him while he had ulterior motives.
In his defence Moyo told court that he was in l0ve with the granny and claimed that he did not rɑpe her but they had consensual ƨǝxuɑl interc0urse.
It was proved that on 3 April this year Ndlovu went to the granny’s home in the middle of the night and upon arrival he knocked on the door.
The granny opened the door for him after he lied to her saying her daughter had been robbed.
While the granny was trying to come to terms with the incident, he demanded US$100 but the granny told him that she did not have money.
The court heard that he then grabbed her before pushing on to her bed and rɑped her.
He ƨǝxuɑlly attacked her three times during the night. He left for his home the following morning. The granny reported the incident to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
