In a sh0cking turn of events, a ZUPCO bus carrying Zanu-PF supporters to a campaign rally in Nkayi was involved in a horrific accident yesterday. Reports indicate that the bus hit an open manhole on the roadside before it overturned, killing one passenger on the spot.
Several passengers from Binga’s Lusulu area in Matebeleland North province were also injured in the crash, with some of them being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Zanu-PF Matebeleland North provincial chairperson Richard Moyo confirmed the accident last night, expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and wishing a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
However, Matebeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda said that he had not yet received the accident report, leaving many questions unanswered about what caused this tragic event.
This heartbreaking incident occurred approximately 5km from Lupane town along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway, leaving many Zimbabweans in sh0ck and disbelief.
