Police in Mberengwa District, Midlands Province, have arrested a suspect following the fatal stabbing of a man who drank another patron’s beer at a business center without permission. Another suspect remains at large.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the victim, Eddwish Shoko, entered a Svitsa Business Centre shop where Pritchard Hove and Maluwin Munetsi were drinking beer on July 24 around 11pm.
Shoko allegedly drank Munetsi’s beer without consent, sparking a violent altercation.
“Realizing his life was now in danger, Shoko fled the shop to escape but the two suspects chased after him and stabbed him with a knife,” Inspector Mahoko said. “He fell down and died on the spot.”
Police attended the scene and arrested Munetsi while Hove remains at large. Inspector Mahoko appealed to the public for information on Hove’s whereabouts.
He warned the public against resorting to violence to resolve disputes, saying it leads to unnecessary loss of life.
Inspector Mahoko said: “We urge members of the public to desist from resorting to violence when resolving matters as it leads to unnecessary loss of lives.”
