Vice President Chiwenga Warns of Stern Action Against Election Violence

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has warned that the government will take stern action against perpetrators of political violence in the run up to and aftermath of the August 23 elections.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters in Harare South, Chiwenga stressed the need for peace, unity and tolerance among Zimbabweans. He said violence has no place and those indulging in it will face the full force of the law.

“Those bent on violence, you will get your VIP ticket to Chikurubi. We are not going to be merciful,” Chiwenga said. He urged Zimbabweans to build a country that others will envy, based on love, peace and unity.

Chiwenga highlighted achievements of the government under President Mnangagwa’s leadership over the past five years, including an end to load shedding, stabilization of prices, and construction of new dams and power projects.

He said the commissioning of Hwange Power Station units 7 and 8 will mean Zimbabwe will no longer have to import electricity, ensuring a reliable power supply for citizens and businesses.

Vice President Chiwenga’s message was clear – Zimbabweans must shun violence during the election period and maintain peace and unity to move the country forward.
