A 63-year-old Bulawayo landlord has appeared in court charged with maliciously damaging his tenant’s vehicle.

John Kasarawa pleaded not guilty to the charge of damaging his 35-year-old tenant Matthew Lowe’s Toyota Tazz during a dispute earlier this year.

The court heard the two men had a disagreement about water usage on May 23 at Belmont Industrial Area. During a heated exchange, Kasarawa allegedly kicked Lowe’s car, busting a headlamp worth US$60.

Lowe reported the incident to police, resulting in Kasarawa’s arrest. However, Kasarawa denied the charge in court.

Magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa released Kasarawa on bail and remanded him to August 22 for trial.
