A deaf and mute man has been arrested along with two others for allegedly beating a 48-year-old man to death with an iron bar at a sports bar in Chitungwiza.
Witness Mombeshora, 33, Shrine Kamusoko, 31, and the hearing impaired Simbarashe are accused of assaulting Lloyd Dongo during an incident at Unit M Shopping Centre on July 14.
Dongo died the next day after being admitted to a local hospital with injuries from the bar attack.
According to police, Dongo had attempted to rescue his friend who was being attacked by the suspects.
The alleged iron bar assault killing has shone a spotlight on violence in Zimbabwean drinking holes, with bars and shebeens often becoming scenes of violent crime.
