President Mnangagwa has said all political parties are free to campaign as they wish in the 2023 election, under the freedoms of the Second Republic.

The President was speaking to a massive crowd of over 124,000 people at a Zanu-PF rally in Zaka.

He said Zanu-PF rallies have recorded huge numbers since launching its election campaign last month.

President Mnangagwa took a swipe at opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, saying CCC’s crowd of only 15,000 at its campaign launch needed to be multiplied seven times to match Zaka’s huge numbers.

The President said every party must be allowed to campaign peacefully.
But he warned against hate speech, stressing the importance of peace before, during and after the election.

President Mnangagwa said no outsiders can lecture Zimbabwe on democracy, calling Zanu-PF “professors of democracy”.

Masvingo Minister Chadzamira praised the 677 projects President Mnangagwa has implemented in the province.

Provincial chair Mavhenyengwa vowed: “Masvingo will work for you and you will win. You can sleep easy!”

The rally shows Zanu-PF’s massive support base in the run-up to the crunch vote on August 23. Nelson Chamisa has a mountain to climb to match Zanu-PF’s mobilization machine.
