Three people walking along the road were mowed down and killed when a truck veered off the road and plowed into them in Mutare.
Police say the accident happened at around 7:40am on July 14 along Natview-Hobhouse Road.
An hit the pedestrians who were walking by the side of the road, according to cops.
“Three pedestrians died after being hit by the lorry which had veered off the road to the left,” police tweeted.
The truck’s driver and two passengers, as well as one other pedestrian, were injured in the crash.
The victims’ bodies were taken to Victoria Chitepo Hospital for post-mortem exams while the injured were admitted there.
Further details about what caused the truck to veer off the road, killing three people, have not yet been revealed. Police investigations continue.
The horrific crash serves as a grim reminder of the dangers faced by pedestrians on Zimbabwe’s roads.
