A Bulawayo man pulled a sh0cker in court as he dumped his wife for allegedly bashing him and insulting him for failing to secure a job.
Timothy Dube told Tredgold magistrates court that his wife Selma Sibanda had become physically and verbally abusive towards him after he lost his job.
The unemployed Timothy said Selma, who is still working, has been shouldering the household bills but then verbally attacks him in front of their children, calling him “a useless man.” He claims Selma even punches him during arguments.
However, Selma claimed the fights started because Timothy was having an ɑffɑir with their maid. She said the constant arguments often turn physical.
Timothy told the court “She has abused me more than enough, I no longer want to stay with her. It’s better we sell the house and share the money. I cannot stand her unbearable abuse.”
Magistrate Makelo Ncube granted the warring couple a “reciprocal order” barring them both from abusing each other physically or verbally. They were also ordered to undergo counselling and return to court in a month.
