Man Steals Bucket to Please New Wife

A 42-year-old man left the courtroom in stitches after claiming he stole a plastic bucket to please his new wife. Joseph Rabson had to face the music after being caught stealing a 20-litre bucket from Moses Chikomo’s house.

Rabson pleaded guilty in Concession magistrate’s court. When asked to explain his actions, Rabson said he recently got married and wanted to give the bucket to his wife so she could use it for laundry.

However, his plan failed after Chikomo returned home and caught Rabson attempting to break into the house with an iron bar. A chase ensued and Chikomo retrieved the bucket valued at $5.

While Rabson’s story had many in the courtroom laughing, prosecutor Precious Khanye maintained there was nothing funny about the crime, arguing for a custodial sentence.

The magistrate acknowledged the serious nature of Rabson’s offense, but ultimately took pity on him and gave him a suspended sentence of 6 months in prison, wholly suspended for 5 years on the condition he does not commit a similar offence during that period.

Rabson will have to spend his time thinking of ways to please his new wife that don’t involve stealing buckets.
