High Court boots Saviour Kasukuwere off ballot for Aug 23 polls after ruling he failed to meet residency requirements
Justice David Mangota ruled Kasukuwere violated constitution by not living in Zim for needed 18 months to qualify as candidate.
Judge’s ruling came after application by Lovedale Mangwana seeking Kasukuwere’s disqualification as he has been out of country too long.
High Court ordered Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to leave Kasukuwere off ballot paper.
Justice Mangota ruled Kasukuwere had been out of Zim for over 18 months and therefore not a registered voter.
Said failure to meet residency requirement meant he could not validly contest presidential election.
Kasukuwere’s presidential ambitions have now gone up in smoke due to time spent living abroad instead of Zim.
