The family of David ‘Diva’ Matambo, the man fatally assaulted outside an Harare bar last week, has received the gruesome results of his post-mortem examination.
According to a spokesperson for the Matambo family, the autopsy concluded that a severe blunt force trauma to David’s head was the cause of his death.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Sarah Matambo revealed: “We received the results of the post-mortem today. If all goes according to plan, we want the body to be taken to his house today. The family will decide burial arrangements tonight.”
The tragic incident unfolded at the Afro 161 Bar and Restaurant after David’s wife accidentally swiped another vehicle while reversing her car in the parking lot. David exited their vehicle to assess the damage when he was allegedly punched on the head by Calisto Murawo.
David collapsed to the ground and authorities claim Calisto then proceeded to kick him repeatedly in the head before fleeing the scene. David was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Calisto turned himself in to police two days later and appeared in court where he was remanded into custody. He is scheduled for a bail hearing today.
The Matambo family now has clarity on the cause of David’s death, but still seeks justice as they mourn the loss of their loved one and make final arrangements to lay him to rest.
