A family is mourning the loss of five relatives who died in a horrific car crash in Zimbabwe over the weekend. According to reports, the five individuals were traveling together in a Toyota Allion on Saturday afternoon when their vehicle collided with a passenger bus along the major Harare-Masvingo highway. The group was returning from a lobola ceremony, a traditional Zimbabwean marriage custom when the tragic accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Varaidzo Musapurwa, 1-year-old Maila Dungwizha, 22-year-old Tatenda Kisi, 33-year-old Mudonhi Chihuri and 48-year-old Alexio Kamumvuri. A relative of the victims described receiving the devastating phone call informing him of the crash, saying “When I received the phone call, I couldn’t believe it. We rushed to the scene and saw that their vehicle was a wreck. We were so sh0cked.”
The five family members were laid to rest in a communal funeral in Karoi. The unexpected deaths of five close relatives in a single tragic accident have left the remaining family and community in mourning. The accident is under investigation by local authorities to determine the exact cause of the collision between the two vehicles.
