ZANU PF has banned exiled Saviour Kasukuwere from running for president, saying he must clear his legal troubles first. Kasukuwere, known as Tyson for his political ruthlessness, has been in self-imposed exile in South Africa since Robert Mugabe’s ouster in 2017.
Police claim Kasukuwere has TWO arrest warrants against him for skipping court and failing to return his passport. Justice Ministry boss Virginia Mabhiza says he’ll face the music when he returns.
But Kasukuwere’s lawyer Jacqueline Sande insists her client has no pending cases.
Tyson plans to run as an independent against Emmerson Mnangagwa and Nelson Chamisa. But ZANU PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa says forget it. “He is a non-existent candidate!” Mutsvangwa fumed. “He’s a thug with many questions to answer.”
Sources say ZANU PF is terrified of Tyson stealing votes from their strongholds. Former ZANU PF youth leader Godfrey Tsenengamu revealed they are recruiting angry ZANU PF cadres to back Kasukuwere. “Batsirai Pemhenayi is rounding up ZANU PF rebels in Manicaland,” he spilled.
Meanwhile, Catholic bishops have appealed to ZEC, urging them to deliver “free, fair and credible” elections on August 23. But is Zimbabwe ready for the political storm brewing over the return of the controversial ‘Tyson’?
