Tragedy struck along the Harare-Chirundu Road last night after a head-on collision between a Nissan Caravan and a Honda Fit claimed the lives of nine people and left 12 others injured. The accident occurred near Gwebi College at around 6pm.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies of the victims had been taken to Norton Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted to Inkomo and Sally Mugabe Hospitals.
This fatal accident comes just a day after another deadly collision on the Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road, where three people were killed and four others injured. A Toyota Hilux with nine passengers on board veered off the road and collided with a trailer of a Mthethi Dragon Bus carrying six passengers.
