A man identified as Raymond Chikodzi has appeared in court for allegedly stealing a hired vehicle in Harare’s Central Business District.
According to the State, Chikodzi and his accomplice, who is still at large, approached the complainant who was in his unregistered taxi at a service station.
They requested a ride to Epworth, but upon the driver’s refusal, they pleaded with him to take them there. The driver then left the car temporarily to relieve himself, leaving the keys in the ignition port. Upon his return, the car was gone, and the two had driven away with the vehicle.
The owner of the car was able to locate it on the GPS tracking device, and they followed it to Chinhoyi, where Chikodzi was arrested, and the accomplice fled.
Chikodzi was remanded in custody pending the determination of his bail application.
