Joseph Makamba Busha, the leader of the FreeZim Congress party, has announced his decision to contest the upcoming presidential election. He made the announcement at a press conference in Harare on Monday.
In his speech, Busha dismissed the current President Emmerson Mnangagwa and opposition leader Nelson Chamisa. He said Mnangagwa has failed as President and it is time for a new generation to lead Zimbabwe.
Regarding Chamisa, Busha said the CCC leader is young and inexperienced, and he will learn from Busha if he wins the election. He claims that if he wins, he can teach Chamisa after the election.
Busha expressed confidence that he could win if the voter roll is transparent and the people’s will prevails.
“I am the government in waiting, but I believe there are only three political parties in Zimbabwe, my party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the ruling party. Yes, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa is a brilliant young leader, but should be able to learn from me and my government,” he said.
Busha lost to Mnangagwa in the 2018 presidential election. However, he now feels confident of victory in 2023. He called on Mnangagwa to accept that his time is up and pass the baton to the next generation for Zimbabwe’s future.
In his announcement, Busha emphasized that the FreeZim Congress party will fully contest the upcoming elections. He believes a clean and fair electoral process will result in him winning the presidency.
