The ruling ANC party in South Africa has expelled Ace Magashule from the party. Magashule was asked to step aside from his position as ANC’s secretary general last year in May 2021 after facing corruption allegations.
This was because the ANC subjects officials facing corruption charges to disciplinary proceedings.
Magashule went through a disciplinary hearing where he was found guilty of violating several rules in the ANC constitution. Once the guilty verdict was delivered, Magashule was given 7 days to explain why he should not be expelled from the party.
However, Magashule failed to respond within that time frame. This resulted in the ANC expelling him from the party.
