A horrific bus crash in Dotito, Zimbabwe on Saturday left 7 people dead and 45 others injured. According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 12:40pm along the Harare-Mukumbura Road when a CAG bus travelling towards Harare suffered a burst front tyre.
The bus veered off the road to the left side before overturning and landing on its right side. The crash caused significant damage and casualties as some passengers were trapped inside the wreckage.
Police say 5 passengers died at the scene while 2 others died after being rushed to Mt Darwin District Hospital. The 45 injured individuals were also taken to the Mt Darwin hospital for medical care. The remains of those killed were transported to the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
The accident was attributed to the front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control of the bus.
