A 28-year-old Chinhoyi woman named Petronella Mapuranga was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant.
Mapuranga had left her home in Gadzema suburb on the evening of May 11 to buy relish at a nearby bus terminus. Later that night, Mapuranga’s churchmate received a phone call from her number informing her that Mapuranga had been stabbed with a knife by an unknown person.
The next day, after Mapuranga could not be found, a missing person’s report was filed with the Chemagamba Police Station. Mapuranga’s nɑkǝd body was then discovered in a stream on May 13 by a girl fetching water. The body had injuries on the left eye.
Police attended the crime scene and the body was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The police are appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
