Harare under attack as robbers hit police camp, elderly man’s home

A police officer had her home vandalized and robbed while she was attending a regional police conference.

Kudzai Dzuke, 29, who lives at the ZRP Marlborough Camp Staff Quarters, lost $930 in cash, a TV set, a decoder and a laptop computer. A neighbour noticed the break-in and informed her, forcing her to miss the closing ceremony of the training workshop.

Police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said police are investigating a number of unlawful entry and robbery cases in the Harare area. Another victim was 77-year-old Pearson Mungofa of Ashdown Park who lost an inverter and lithium battery worth $1200.

Adris Chitaraka, 40, of Glen Forest lost property worth $3000 after thieves forced open the door of his cottage. The thieves made off with a laptop, an iPhone, shoes, tracksuits, a gas stove, bags, hard drives and a power bank.

Inspector Chakanza said investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
