Two people are believed to have lost their lives after a commuter omnibus carrying school children crashed along the Mutare-Nyanga Road near Manica Bridge this afternoon.
The Nissan Caravan was transporting students home from Hartzell Central Primary School when the accident occurred. According to witnesses, the bus burst a tyre and then overturned multiple times.
When reporters from The Manica Post arrived on the scene shortly after the crash, the injured passengers had already been taken to Old Mutare Mission Hospital. The driver of the bus and one student are thought to have died at the scene of the accident.
Witnesses said that more than ten pupils suffered injuries in the crash. Police officers had yet to arrive to begin their investigation when the news crew got to the accident site.
