Zimbabwean musician Lady Storm, real name Lyn Fungisai Magodo, has been summoned to appear in Harare Civil Court on Monday to respond to an access application by her ex-boyfriend Luckmore Pongolani regarding their daughter.
Luckmore, a car dealer, is seeking court-ordered access to his daughter on weekends and during school holidays. He claims their daughter should enjoy “the natural father-daughter bond.”
Luckmore alleges that Lady Storm has denied him access to their child since her birth in 2017.
Lady Storm’s lawyer, Arshiel Mugiya, confirmed they received the court summons and will be attending Monday’s hearing to respond to the access application.
Lady Storm and Luckmore have had a long-running dispute over the paternity of their daughter. The issue was eventually resolved through DNA testing that proved Luckmore is the girl’s biological father.
The court hearing this week will determine what access, if any, Luckmore is granted to his daughter. He is arguing regular contact with his father would be in the child’s best interests.
While custody cases can be contentious, the focus should always be on what arrangement best serves the child’s needs and welfare. Both parents play an important role, so a balanced solution that facilitates a relationship with each is often ideal.
