Three armed robbers intercepted a liquor delivery truck on May 31 in Muzarabani and stole US$8 000 cash from the vehicle. The robbers were traveling in a Toyota Wish car when they attacked the truck driver and assistant.

The robbers were armed with a pistol and another firearm. They forced the truck to stop, approached the driver and assistant, and stole the $8,000 that was in the truck safe along with a cell phone.

Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are working to identify and arrest the suspects. Armed robberies have been on the rise in Zimbabwe recently. Criminals often target trucks transporting valuables as well as tobacco farmers and auction floors during the tobacco selling season.

The police are urging members of the public and business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious criminal activity. They also recommend improving security measures to deter would-be robbers.
