Arthur Mutambara, Zimbabwe’s former deputy prime minister, claims that Bona Mugabe’s divorce case revealed how the country’s economic downfall stems from looting by the ruling elite.
During the launch of his book, Mutambara said Bona’s divorce proceedings showed that she owns several properties, including 21 farms, prime residential land in Harare, an US$8 million mansion in Dubai, and a fleet of luxury cars.
Mutambara questioned how much Robert Mugabe and his sons likely possessed if Bona owned so much. He argued that the vice president and other ministers likely had many farms as well.
However, ZANU-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa dismissed Mutambara’s allegations.
