The mother of slain Citizen Coalition for Change activist Moreblessing Ali lit a candle on the first anniversary of her daughter’s brutal killing.
Moreblessing went missing one year ago after being abducted. Her dismembered body was later found in two parts inside a well. A suspected ZANU-PF activist has been implicated in the abduction and murder but no arrests have been made.
Moreblessing’s mother, Judith Chisiwa, lit the candle to wish her daughter’s spirit peace. She said the violent manner of Moreblessing’s death causes her pain.
“I just blew the candle remembering the events that led to her death. What pains me is that she met her death violently. Wherever her spirit is, I just wish that it is resting,” Chisiwa told NewsDay.
Moreblessing’s lawyer, Job Sikhala, who was representing the family, has been detained for 344 days without trial. The family has refused to bury Moreblessing’s body until Sikhala is released.
The CCC party condemned the lack of justice for Moreblessing and demanded action. The non-progress in the case has angered the public.
The first anniversary of Moreblessing’s abduction and killing comes as her family and CCC supporters seek closure and justice, frustrated by the opaque investigation and lack of accountability.
